Ashley Greene initially had plans for becoming a model. But, after being told that she was not tall enough to walk the runways, the 5′5″ Florida native decided to take a commercial class, and quickly fell in love with acting. After a move to Los Angeles, she began working in film and television and, when Twilight was brought to her attention by her manager, the 21-year-old knew that she had to play Alice Cullen.

Greene recently took time out from her hectic schedule to talk to MediaBlvd Magazine about the highly anticipated film adaption of the hugely successful Young Adult vampire novel by literary icon Stephenie Meyer, hitting theaters on November 21^st.

MediaBlvd Magazine> How did you end up moving out to L.A. and getting into acting?

Ashley Greene> I moved out to L.A. when I was 17, almost 18. I wasn’t really that involved with theater, in high school or middle school. I fell into acting. (more…)

Stephenie Meyer, the Twilight series author gave an interview with LA Times and discussed some characters being brought to life. Here is what was said about Ashley as Alice Cullen.

Was there any one actor in the film that you came the closest to your vision for their character while you were writing Twilight?

On first look, the one that really jumped out was Ashley Greene as Alice. I saw a picture of her and just thought, ‘You found Alice! Oh my gosh!’

AG: I am. It’s different, but I still think it’s interesting. It’s a little less of the love story.

LL: I think Alice is the best character to play in Twilight because you don’t have the weight and responsibility of the love angle, but you do have a cool power. Do you feel that way too?

Summit Entertainment’s Twilight, an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novel, dominated the box office earning an estimated $70.5 million from 3,419 theaters. The opening marks the fourth-biggest ever for the month of November, surpassing this month’s earlier releases Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa ($63.1 million) and Quantum of Solace ($67.5 million), plus 2004’s The Incredibles ($70.467 million), and trailing only the three Harry Potter movies that opened this month - Chamber of Secrets ($88.4 million), Sorcerer’s Stone ($90.3 million) and Goblet of Fire ($102.7 million). Directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Melissa Rosenberg, the love story between a teenage girl and a vampire averaged an impressive $20,636 per location. The film, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Cigandet, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene, was made for just $37 million.

I got to see the film this weekend and it was amazing! I thought it was just as I’d imagined and I really have no major complaints… I suppose my biggest/complaint is I wish for more Alice - although I understand why she might not have had much screentime as described in the books. Hopefully the next film will be different as fans are loving Miss Greene. Her and Jasper were utterly adorable. Ashley was truly perfect for Alice and stole every scene she was in!

My favorite scene? Definitely the baseball one! Alice’s cutesy pitch was perfect and I loved when the Cullens first enter, “The one that looks like he’s in pain is Jasper” ♥ Aww!

I want to wish Ashley Greene congrats on her first big film role and we can’t wait to see more of you! You’re definitely a big star!

Ashley Greene, 21, plays Alice Cullen, the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Alice’s visions of the future lead her to the Cullen family, and her powers play a crucial role in protecting Bella Swan. Greene has appearances on the television shows Crossing Jordan, Desire, and Shark.

VF Daily: Had you read the Twilight books before getting the script?

Ashley Greene: When I was going to audition, I actually went out and got the first book and read it before the first meeting. I read it in a day and a half, and then I read the second and third. I’m finishing up the fourth so I can have it done before the movie comes out.
